Background picture in PowerPoint doesn't print properly

On several templates I have (including one downloaded from this site!), the
image which is set in the background (not placed directly on the master)
repeats itself two or three times down the page when I print in color. A
colleague printed the same template in b&w on another printer and it came out
fine. When I print in b&w, the image disappears entirely. My concern is if I
have to send a presentation to clients, I can't be sure it will print
properly.

Any ideas what's going on?

I updated my printer drivers and it still prints wrong.

It sounds like a printer driver issue. Have you tried updating the printer
drivers?
