Background Pictures-Powerpoint 2003

When I add a picture as a background, it is distorted. This did not happen
on my earlier version of Powerpoint. Any suggestions?

Sandy,
At the lower left of the picture tab, you should find a check box for "Lock
aspect ratio" check that and see if the distortion goes away. :)
