backgrounds

We use powerpoint to create song services for our
church. We create a powerpoint file for each song. Each
song has a background. When we are ready to put an
entire service together, we go to insert, then insert
slide from file. Not all the time, but many times when
we insert our previously created powerpoint file, the
background will be gone, so we have to add it again. It's
really a pain doing this each week. Does anyone have any
idea why this happens and maybe know a way to correct it?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Tim,

It is important to know what version of PowerPoint you are using. PP 2002
(aka PP XP) allows for multiple masters, while earlier versions did not.
Check to see if the background pictures are 'true' backgrounds (inserted
onto master slides) or are pictures that are full screen and behind
everything else.

Use the former method if you have PP 2002 or 2003, use the latter for PP
2000 or 97.

Also check out this site:
www.pptfaq.com
It is required reading for anyone using PowerPoint.

Also, if it's PowerPoint 2002, be sure that each time you insert a slide
that you check the box that says "Keep source formatting."

I have encountered the same problem, especially with Office XP. Make
sure you keep source formatting option checked.
