Backing up Access 2000 to a CD disk?

Using the file/backup database and I set the location to a R/W CD, I
get an error message. hat is the best way to backup a 2000 database?

Make sure the .mdb file is not open while backing up. Before backing up
Compact and Repair the .mdb file. This will shrink the file size. Last,
make sure you Label your CD backup. It's easy to forget this step. You'll
thank yourself when the db crashes and you're able to restore from the last
backup.

I'm not sure why you're having errors. However, this is not an Access issue.

What is the error message? There could be any number of reasons for an
error. Most of the reasons will be a Windows issue or a problem with the CD
burner. I backup my databases by simple copying them to a CD using the
Windows file system utility which turns on when I put an empty disk in the
CD burner. I use those for offsite backups. I use USB memory sticks for my
incremental backups. I use a USB external hard drive for my workstation
backup and a tape drive system for server backup.

I wouldn't recommend using optical drives for automated backup in
Win2K or WinXP. It just isn't reliable.
