Backup feature driving me mad

Hi I installed the back up feature and back up to a removable disk.

I am forever getting messages to say disk not available, then goes through a
cycle of another 3 or 4 messages, i have the auto backup every so many days
turn off.

Any ideas before I remove the program Cheers Tim

Why even have it installed if you have the reminder feature turned off? I have mine set to 1 and it still asks to make the backup, just press enter.

Why removable media?

Backup to what type of removable disk?
Is the disk visible in explorer, prior to instigating backup?
Is the designation of the disk constant?

I am completely lost in my backup utility (which I also downloaded). I am
trying to backup all my outlook emails onto a cd. I've been at it all day,
and have exhausted all the step-by-step instructions I can find. Could
someone here supply me with a better set of step-by-step instructions? I HAVE
to put my emails on cd / removable media.
