Hello,

Have single servers complete backup taken with Backup option from Central
administration.
Installed new W2K3 server, installed Project server 2007 Trial, trying to do
complete restore and encounter errors.

What is correct way of restoring Project 2007 server to different computer ?

OK

This way of restoring is correct.
But usually there are errors related to different level of Service Packs,
hotfixes applied to the servers.

Backup was taken from server installed from same media. Errors appear when
restoring Sharedservices1

SPDuplicateObjectException: An object of the type
Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.SharedResourceProvider named
"SharedServices1" already exists under the parent
Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPFarm named
"SharePoint_Config_882d6994-4261-48e7-9f64-9b7f1509729c". Rename
your object or delete the existing object.

Hi Sam,

as the error message outlines, you already have an SSP with this name. Thats
why you get the error message.

Hi,

Sorry for delay.

Yes, this is true, but I thought that restore process should overwrite
this. Since, this was not the case I created SSP2 and deleted SSP1 and all
SSP1 related web applications. Thought that would be enough, but again I get
some erros during restore about passwords that could not be blank and
restore was failing. May be this was because I tried to restore standalone
version in which services run under NETWORK SYSTEM account. After chaging
this to local administartor I was finaly able to complete test restore.

I still have one problem. Since backup was take from Project server runing
on DC in one domain and should be restored on domain member in different
domain I can not login to project :)... Any ideas how to overwrite
pemissions.
