microsoft is setting themselves up for a lawsuit by requiring usage of a
product contingent upon another product. the approach microsoft is taking
with groove is very wrong-no support, no clear usage guidlines, etc. this
message board is testimony to that end. the very fact that users have to be
their own repository of info is quite suspect. appearently microsoft
purchased this company (groove networks) without the appropriate fore thought
about support issues and deceptively just bundled it into "office 2007",
shameful.
the question/comment i have is, there should be a simple way to invite a
non-groove user into a workspace (similarly to how one opens an attachment in
an e-mail) and begin utilization?
micrsoft (oh "big brother" if you read this i will not let this go) on mon.
16, april, 2007 every agency (ie. better business bureau, washington state
atty. gen, etc.) i can contact to let know about the difficulty experienced
with your product!

Such as making Visual Studio usage contingent on running it under
Windows? Good luck trying to make that case.

If a potential guest user doesn't have Microsoft Office installed, how
would they open, say, Excel .XLS files? I suppose they could have
OpenOffice or some other 'productivity' suite installed which could
open .XLS files, but there has to be some client software already
installed that could interact with the e-mail attachments.

A more interesting question is whether Groove should be considered
subject to the EU's antitrust decision against Microsoft that compells
Microsoft to provide third parties with technical documentation for
its server software. If so, there may be open source Groove clients
some point in the future.

Fire up that email then, as they will do nothing. What did you expect? Did you expect to have someone use the functionality of Groove without actually having it on their system? How, exactly, do you propose to do that? Do you expect people who don't have AutoCad to be able to work with AutoCad files?

Sheesh!

Guess you are not to familiar with the software business. You should
look around at all the "add-ons" and "expansions" that build on/require
a base product to work/install.

Have a good day!
