Banner Ad and ActiveX

I have been testing the usability of my website and have noticed that when
ActiveX is not activated then any banner ads are not displayed.

Are there any work arounds for this ? Is there any HTML I can add so that a
single image is displayed when ActiveX isn't activated ?

Thanks

The FP Banner Ad component is JAVA, not ActiveX

Thanks for the reply Stefan but that doesn't answer my query. Whenever I try
to access my website using my work PC I get a warning message stating that
ActiveX has been disabled and that the website will not be displayed fully
(or words to that effect).

When the page displays the only thing missing is the banner ad ! Ergo banner
ads are not displayed when ActiveX is not activated.

Being a work PC I cannot amend the settings and my worry is that someone (ie
a potential customer) will view my website, not have ActiveX activated and
therefore not see the banner ad.

My real query is whether there is a script available to detect if the user
has ActiveX controls restricted on their PC and, if they do, display an
alternative.

Phew ! I'm off for a latte !!
Thanks again.

The FP Banner Ad Manager component DOES NOT use ActiveX, it is Java Applet which requires users to
have a Java Virtual Machine installed.

Are you sure that you are not using Flash, as Flash does require ActiveX under IE.

Since this is work computer, you need to check with your system admin to see if they are block Java
applets or ActiveX.

The best solution would be to use JavaScript to rotate banner images.

When either Java or Active X is blocked, IE6 reports that Active X is
blocked.

Potential customers using Windows XP or IE6 will most likely *not*
have the JVM (Java Virtual Machine) installed that is required for
viewing Java applets, since JVM is no longer supplied with IE or
Windows (some manufacturers, [Dell, Toshiba] do install Sun's JVM, but
there are not many of these).
