I am trying to create a banner that will be be used on
other web pages for an affiliate program. When I created
it in baner ad manager, I was told by my affiliate
program that it needed to be a real file, not an applet.

Your best bet is to create the banner in a graphics program. The affiliate
program will probably also have exact dimentions for you (such as 460x60) as
there are very standard sizes for ad banners now. The image will be
something you'll be able to use anywhere, including in the banner ad
manager. The FP banner ad manager, being Java, isn't a good idea anymore as
a banner ad manager because it uses Java. The Java Virtual Machine (JVM),
which actually makes Java work on a computer no longer comes with a Windows
so a lot of users will see an error. You may see what type of server-side
scripting capabilities your host has as you could possibly find a
server-side banner ad manager since the professional banner ad managers all
work server-side.

Hope this helps,

I just ran across this problem too and I find it strange that
Frontpage 2003 produces output that won't work properly on a machine
with just the MS Windows XP operating system! Microsoft should fix
their software.

I think the Frontpage publishing security needs a major revamp. Since
the latest security updates it has become a major pain trying to
publish anything using Frontpage.
