Bar Code Reading???? Help!!

I have a perplexing task, and need help! How do you set up an access db to retreive data from a bar code reader?? ie, scanning a bar code, to either enter data into a table about that product and/or doing an inquiry on an existing bar code within that table.

If anyone can help, I really need it!
