Bar Style Name - Baseline Problem - Project 2007

Project 2007 - When I display the baseline bar on a project the Bar Style
Name becomes Corrupt! Is this a bug and is there a fix?
To reproduce:
1) Format>Bar Style (Note Name Column looks good).
2) Set Baseline - Tools>Tracking>Set Baseline>(Click OK)
3) Display Baseline - Format>Gantt Char Wizard>(Next>Baseline>None>No>Format
It>Exit - Note Baseline is displayed above your task lines in the gantt
chart).
4) Verify Problem - Format>Bar Styles (Note Name Column is now Corrupt!)
5) Check Gantt - Look at the legend at the bottom of the gantt chart, it
reflects the corrupt bar names!)

I have verified this problem with multiple projects and multiple machines.
Any help as to hotfixes or others experiencing the same problem would be
appreciated..

Thanks,
Jim Laydon

Hi,

The Gantt Chart Wizard corrupts the Bar Styles in 2007
I've noticed that :-((
I don't know of any correction.
To show baselines use the Tracking Gantt view. Correct Bar Styles from there
isf necessary.

Hope this helps,

Hi Jim,

I've had this problem as well with Project 2007 prior to SP-1.
Unfortunately installing the SP doesn't remove the name corruption
that already exists, but it does not occur again in newly created
files. You can also type back in the Format > Bar Styles dialog to
fix the legend.

I suggest checking that you have the latest SP plus any other
appropriate hotfixes/ updates.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Actually I have SP-1 installed and had it installed before I started
experiencing the problems. I just noticed that the post below states that
they also have SP-1 installed and have the continued problem with the Chart
Wizard. I was able to work around it with the suggestion of using the
Tracking Gantt. Actually this works well becasue I can pop back and forth
between the two charts (one with the baseline and one without). But just for
your information, the problem still exists with the wizard - even in SP-1..
Thanks for your continued help though!!

Hi Jan and Jim,

Hmmm. I don't see the problem any more -- I've just tested again.
I have SP-1 and the Infrastructure Update Installed. Maybe it's the
IU that fixed it. Sorry for the misdirect.

Try installing the IU and see if things are better.

Julie,

I just installed the Infrastructure Update and reproduced the same problem -
same results....It is definitely the chart wizard because the Tracking Gantt
displays the basline fine, but when I run through the Chart Wizard the Names
turn into ASCII charaters and blanks...

Hi Jim,

This is a puzzler. I have run the Gantt Chart wizard following
exactly your steps and mine is without problem. I definitely did
see precisely what you report prior to the installation of SP-1 and
the IU.

Sorry I don't have a magic answer. Just for interest sake I am
running Project 2007 Professional, no connection to Project Server
in Windows XP SP-3 along with the rest of the office suite (2007).
