BARCODE IN ACCESS

Is it possible to have access take the data in a field and convert it
into a simble barcode format?
I know there are many types - standards - of barcodes and i'm not
certain which one i require yet but the data i need converted will be
numbers in the following format - "111 1111 1111"

Barcodes are (generally, if not always) _printed_. There are fonts for all
popular barcodes, some free and some fee. You will need to learn the
standards for your barcode, because often there are required codes that must
be used preceding or following the numbers so the scanners will read them
properly.

In some instances, e.g., postal barcodes, you will likely need to obtain a
font that has been "certified" (e.g., by the postal service) if you hope for
it to work reliably.

I've never heard of anyone trying to use Access as though it were a graphics
program to generate a barcode font format, and doing so doesn't make any
sense to me.

I have an app where remote users are returning parts. They use my app
to print a tag that includes a barcode (free code 39 font) that is
attached to the part. When the item is received at our receiving dock
each barcode is scanned to match the part up to an electronically
submitted database record.

In several years I think only a handful of barcodes had any problems
being scanned.

There are LOTS of different kinds of barcodes, and ANY of them can be
placed on the screen or in a printed report if you have the right
tools. Our company uses Access to print many types of barcodes (both 1D
and 2D) every day.

Based on what you have posted I qould guess that a 1D type barcode will
do what you want. You can get a Free Font that will get you going.
Google "Free 3 of 9" and download and install the font.

As other have pointed out, it is just a font but you can't print it
directly.

There are symbols at both end and the middle that are needed. They are the
longer lines in a UPC code. The middle one is used to stop the reader as
they can read right to left or left to write.
