Baseline - confused

I am using Project 2002. If I have a baseline set on my entire
project, then need to re-baseline a few tasks, what is happening when
I save the selected tasks' new baseline information into the original
baseline? Should I save into one of the baseline1 through 10 fields?

Although I get a prompt that the original baseline has been used, it
doesn't seem to have any obvious effect when I save the selected tasks
into the original baseline. The non-selected tasks seem to keep their
original baseline values, and the EV data appears intact.

I started thinking that I might be overwriting the entire project
baseline with the selected tasks only. Instead, it appears that I am
only overwriting the selected tasks in the original baseline. Is this
correct?

Thanks,
Scott

That is correct, you are only updating the baseline for the selected tasks.
You may note that the summary tasks containing those tasks do not change
unless you rebaseline them as well.
