Baseline Data in Data Analysis Yet?

D

Darrell

We have installed SP2 and the April CU for MSPS 2007 but I still do not see
any baseline data showing up in the Data Analysis views. If baseline data was
in the project file when it was originally published to the server it reports
in the DA views: however; any baseline data added after the schedule was
published does not appear. I thought I read that this issue concerning
missing data in the DA views was supposed to be fixed with SP2?

Hi Darrell,

I havent heard about the issue as yet and know that Baselines generally work
well in the Data Analyser ( there are some issues, but not getting into DA
was not one of them :) I would therefore assume that this issue is
environemnt depenent. If this is the case can you tell me if this happens to
all Projects? and also do you have any event log errors or queue error
regarding the cube build or reporting database update?
Thanks

Darrell:

Open the projects in question, verify that the baseline data is visible in
Project and then Publish the projects. this will force the update through
the reporting database. After publishing the problem projects, rebuild the
cube.

Gary,

We update and publish daily, and the cube rebuilds every night so any
baseline data that is displayed in the Project Center views should eventualy
appear in the DA views the next day right? The only baseline data that
appears correctly is baseline data that is added prior to the project being
published to the server.

I have projects that were migrated from 2003 that display baseline data, I
have schedules that were baselined prior to being published to the server
that display baseline data. I can add baseline data to schedules that were
baselined prior to publishing to the server.

However, schedules that were published without any baseline data do not
display baselne data even when it is later added. I tested this in my Dev
environment by publishing two identical schedules, one with baseline data and
one without. The baselined schedule reports in DA with baseline information.
The schedule published without baseline data will not display baseline data
even after it is added, saved and puiblished. My production environment acts
the same way.

Darrell, have you checked the event log and Queue? What error messages do you
get?

D

Darrell

Marc,

I am being told that the event logs are only showing ID 6875 and 8214 with
any regularity in the App server and nothing in the DB server related to
baseline data. I have asked for more detail about what the DB is showing so
when I get it I will post anything significant.

All I can say with any certainty is that a schedule originally published to
the Server without any baseline data never shows any baseline data in the DA
views even after baseline information is later added, saved to the schedule
and published to the Server.

Well... now I am really confused because I have been building a new project
schedule over the last few weeks and I originally published it to the server
without any baseline information. Yesterday after validating the assignments
with the team I baselined the schedule. All of the baseline data appears in
the DA views. Yet, other schedules still do not show baseline data added to
these schedules that do display the baseline information in the Project
Center views.

Hi Gary, just tried it on my SP2 dev environment but I cant reproduce the
issue. My Baseline data gets into DA without any issues. I tried it by
publishing a project without Baseline and then baselined and republished it
and it works fine.
Not sure what the issue is. Sounds to me either like corrupted files or we
need to refresh the reporting DB.

Hi Darrell,

I wish I would know why you have the issue, but by the sounds of it new
Projects are working fine.

We need to find a commonality between the projects that do not work. Can you
let em know if you know if anny commonality? E.g. all Schedules come from the
same Template?, all schedules are updated from 03 to 07?
We'll find it eventually :)
