BCM 2007 and Offline database

Hi all,

when our users are on the network, they are connected to the shared
bcm database, when they change their status in BCM to "offline" and do
a search in business contacts, they do not see the results they want.

do all users have to be online for this? i thought that if we are
online everything synchronises with a local copy of the database, so
if they go offline-all the contacts in BCM are available to them.

some clarification is needed.

You're right, the results should be the same on an offline database
that is sync'd up with the shared database.

Luther is right: the search results returned should be identical
between "online" (shared) and "offline" states. The only case when
this is not true is if 1) someone changed the interval that BCM uses
to check for new data (default is 1 second), and 2) someone makes a
change to the shared database, and that change has not been
syncronized with your local (offline) database before you go offline.

With the default 1 second polling interval, it should be almost
impossible to get different search results between online and offline
modes.

Maria, can you please post exact steps you use to produce the
behavior? I want to see if there's a bug here, or what!

Thanks,
Chris [msft]

Hi guys,

We have set out interval to synchronise every 30mins when the user is
Online.

The problem was exactly what you suggested Chris: "someone makes a
change to the shared database, and that change has not been
syncronized with your local (offline) database before you go
offline".

Thanks for the help :-D
