BCM 2007 Install Error Message

Mark Bebout

I am unable to install BCM 2007 on a computer that I have already installed
Outlook 2007 on.

The files extract successfully, but during the Microsoft SQL Server 2005
install portion here is the error message:

== Setup failed to install the required component Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 cannot continue. See C:\Program
Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Summary.txt for more
detail. ==

So I checked the log and here is all the it says:

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 9.00.2047.00
==============================
OS Version : Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build
2600)
Time : Mon Jul 03 11:40:57 2006

TOSHIBA-USER : Unknown article Result.

SQL Server Setup failed. For more information, review the Setup log file in
%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Summary.txt.

Time : Mon Jul 03 11:40:58 2006

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to go from here to make BCM
install?

Thanks!

Mr. E

Did you "review the Setup log file in %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft SQL
Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Summary.txt."? If so, what does it say?

Mr. E

Try manually installing the BCM SQL Express instance using the steps below.

1.) Run <BCM Setup Folder>\SSE\SQLEXPR.EXE
2.) Check the "I accept..." box and click "Next"
3.) Click "Install"
4.) Wait a few minutes for it to install components and then click "Next"
5.) Click "Next" on the SQL Server Installation Wizard
6.) Review the System Configuration Check to ensure that everything looks good
If there is a problem, click "Report | Copy Report to Clipboard" and paste
it to this thread
7.) If all items are green, click "Next"
8.) Wait for Setup to review settings and then uncheck the box labeled "Hide
advanced configuration options"
9.) Leave the "Feature Selection" defaults and click "Next"
10.) Change the instance name to MSSMLBIZ then click "Next"
11.) On the "Service Account" page, make sure that the "Network service"
built-in System account is selected, then uncheck the "SQL Browser" box to
improve security and click "Next".
12.) Leave the "Windows Authentication Mode" selection and click "Next"
13.) Leave the default Collation settings and click "Next"
14.) Leave the "Enable User Instances" checkbox selected and click "Next"
15.) Check both the "Automatically send Error reports..." and "Automatically
send Feature Usage Data..." check boxes, then click "Next"
16.) Click "Install"

Hope that helps!
