After upgrading to SP2 last night I get an error message that says Operating
System error #5 (Access Denied) and sqlserver does not load. I have run
Office Diagnostics and come up clean. Any ideas anyone?

When I looked at the changes in the SP2 update, they were very minor
changes in some of the BCM DLLs. SP2 doesn't reconfigure SQL nor
change any Windows permissions, so it may be something concurrent with
SP2 that caused the problem.

When you say "sqlserver does not load", does that mean the sqlserver
service won't start up?

SQL does not start. The error message was in the event log. Windows Update
also loaded IE8 which hung requiring me to run a "Microsoft Fix It" which
reset all security settings to their default or so it said. IE8 loaded after
that. But that is when the SQLServer error message started.
