BCM will not Re-install. Going Crazy

Dave P

Installed Office 2007 with BCM. It loaded with no problem. However, I had to
uninstall Outlook and BCM to deal with another problem. Everything else
installed but BCM fails partway through the intall and references to a set up
log. I have tries every trick in the posts of this discussion group to no
avail. It always fails the same way. Here is the last lines of the setup log.
If you have any ideas please let me know. Thanks

Hi Dave,

I guess you may have tried this, but still.
If you find the following registry key, delete it, reboot your machine and
reinstall:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Business Solutions Ecrm

Thanks.

Your log file indicates that everything went fine. What is the exact error
message you are seeing?

You could check the SQL Server logs at:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Summary.txt

Are there any other MBSSetup***.log files in your %temp% folder that have an
error message near the end of the files?

It just says the installation cannot be completed and to see the
MBSSetup***.log for more detail. I found another log that says:
[
2/14/2007 6:51 PM]: Cannot start service MSSQL$MSSMLBIZ on computer '.'.
[2/14/2007 6:51 PM]: BCMHooks.PostInstall() failed to start SQL Service

The time tracks with the other log for my last try. Any help would be
appriciated.

OK, let's attempt to start the service manually. Right-click on "My
Computer" and select "Manage". Expand the "Services and Applications"
folder and select "Services". Scroll down until you see MSSQL$MSSMLBIZ.
What is its status? If it has not been started, right click on it and
select "Start".

If you get an error starting the service, you can check the event log to see
what went wrong. To do this, click "Start | Run" and type eventvwr, then
click "OK". Look in the Application and System logs for recent errors or
warnings. You can open them and click the copy button to post the error
message to the newsgroup.

Installed Office 2007 with BCM. It loaded with no problem. However,
I
had to
uninstall Outlook and BCM to deal with another problem. Everything
else
installed but BCM fails partway through the intall and references to
a
set up
log. I have tries every trick in the posts of this discussion group
to
no
avail. It always fails the same way. Here is the last lines of the
setup log.
If you have any ideas please let me know. Thanks

Clinton (or do you prefer Clint), I tracked the problem to th following:

When I try to start MSSQL$MSSMLBIZ. I get "path not found" After doing a
little research
the command is calling for "c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL.2\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe" -sMSSMLBIZ"
and the path on my system is c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe" -sMSSMLBIZ"
..
My question to you is. Can I change the MSSQl.1 directory to MSSQL.2 without
doing any harm. I have removed Act from my system
& I have all of Office 2007 loaded.

Thanks for all of your help.

Dave

Your log file indicates that everything went fine. What is the exact
error
message you are seeing?

You could check the SQL Server logs at:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Summary.txt

Are there any other MBSSetup***.log files in your %temp% folder that have
an
error message near the end of the files?

Yes, I have tried that more than once with no luck.

Hi Dave,

I guess you may have tried this, but still.
If you find the following registry key, delete it, reboot your machine
and
reinstall:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Business Solutions Ecrm

Thanks.
