Before I do something I am gonna regret

Headtheball

I am now at the crossroads of doing a complete fresh install using xp home
upgrade as I am stuck with arepair that wont work. I can no longer access
my files, desktop because the xp repair has crashed out and is asking for
asms files but the cd rom isnt reading the setup disk. Before i trythis
drastic method, is there a way of rescuing the situation? All of my business
and wifes files are on the system, is there anyway of accessing them and
backing them up, any tools that I could use before the dreaded deed is done.
HELP me please

Can you get into the computer in safe mode? Also, you might get better help
with the first problem (fixing the repair) in one of the windows forums,
like
http://communities2.microsoft.com/c...lt.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsxp.general.
once you have that, we can help you backup your files (which you should do,
even if you get it repaired).

BTW, backup information is here:

I think you posted in the wrong forum. Try the Windows XP
newsgroup. This one is for Office.

You might want to try a windowsxp ng, for a more informed response, as this
is an Outlook ng
I guess you now realise the importance of backups?
