Perhaps you
should carefully examine your posts in this thread to see if that
might be the reason you felt his sharp words.

He didn't even get any particular criticism from me. I didn't say
his mother was a barn animal, nor that his hair looks like a
dried-out floor mop, nor even that the answer he posted was wrong.

All I said was that his answer didn't use the indexes, and I
explained why, at some length, as well as explaining how to write a
WHERE clause that gave the same results, but that used the indexes.

Then he got all bent out of shape.

There was no reason for him to do so -- many are the people who've
actually had reason to get pissed off at me, but David Kaye is not
one of them.

Thank you.

I am not in the habit of carrying on exchanges that "have been resolved".
But, I'll feel free to speak up if you, again, badmouth participants here
who are helpful, even if you got your feelings hurt by them elsewhere, in
the past.

Newsgroups aren't noted for coddling the over-sensitive... best way to get
something out of newsgroup Q&A: suck it up, take the good answers, ignore
the bad ones, and let the insults roll off like water off the proverbial
duck's back.

I never insulted him. That's the part that's so confounding, that I
was making an extra effort to be sure I didn't let history from
another newsgroup intrude here. But he got his knickers in a twist
anyway.

Whaddaya gonna do, other than <PLONK> and get on with your life.

<PLONK>ing seems to be an appropriate action. Since he resents receiving
good advice on effective use of newsgroups and, obviously, has a thin skin
and carries grudges, he's unlikely to want my answers to his questions in
the future, anyway.
