Best Place To Request Office 2000 Help

As the title suggests, can anyone tell me if there is a newsgroup or
facility to assist with an Office 2000 problem? Any answer or help much
appreciated.

Perhaps you could advise me. I was up north for the summer, and returned to
Florida a few days ago. I downloaded all pertinent upgrades from the MS
Update Web Site, and then discovered that Word from MS Office Premium 2000
would not load, and hung up my machine. All other applications are fine, but
obviously one of the downloads destroyed my ability to launch Word. I
uninstalled and reinstalled Office, but the same thing happened. I am
planning on upgrading my other PCs to Office 2007, but my wife wants very
much to keep the old Word for her limited use. Where do you think I should
go, or perhaps better to post at all places. Thanks for your assistance.

No, this is not a printer error. Word just hangs on loading, with a blank
screen. You can't even see the menu bars at the top. And, even worse, you
cannot stop the program, even through task manager. You have to just power
down before you can get back to Windows. There are no errors produced.
Thanks for the article reference.

Got you. I read over your article below and will cross-post initial requests
from now on. Thanks.

I reread your article, and then tried to cross post. My new posting was
going to: microsoft.public.windowsxp.general.dbx, and to
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general. I put both addresses onto the Newsgroups
Line of the email for the first group I was going to post to, with a comma
separating the first and second groups, but got an error message that the
groups could not be resolved. So I had to multipost. Can you advise me 1)
how to physically address both groups in a cross posting, and 2) how do you
get the names of the second, third, etc. groups to post to. I can subscribe
to all the relevent groups, but what is the best way to find the group name
so I can copy and paste it to the "Newsgroups" line of my initial post?
Thanks again.

It was the installation of Office Live Add-In that was at the root of the
problem. Thanks for your help.

Sorry hit send too fast

Are you copying the newsgroups from the OE store since you marked dbx after the
group?. What you should do is to click on the word Newsgroups: above the Subject:
and Cc: lines when you open OE to post a new post and then select the newsgroup to
add and then add it as per the window that opens. Self explanatory when you do the
latter and nothing needed to add

Okay, I see how to get the name of the Newsgroup, but if you are posting to,
lets say, three newsgroups, and you want to crosspost, then once the first
newsgroup has been selected, do you just leave your initial post on the
screen, go the the second and third newsgroups, get their names in the same
way, copy and paste them into the original post, separated by commas? The
intent behind cross posting is easy enough to understand, it's just the
mechanics. I'm sure if I saw someone do it once, I would learn it instantly.
But please let me know if the steps I mentioned at the start of my email
were correct. Thanks.

All you need to do is select the newsgroups as I described (1 or 2 or 3 ) and hit
send with the issue you posted. No need to do this for every newsgroup
Write your post and add the newsgroups as I described and then hit Send

Well Peter, you spent a lot of time on this, and I recognize the value of
cross posting, but, whether you're getting frustrated or not, your
description does not work for me. If I want to send a post to group a, I hit
New Post, put in my subject and message, and I'm ready to send. If I want to
cross post, I have to get the names of the other groups I'm cross posting
to. So I choose them from the left pane of my window (assumig I've
subscribed to them) in order to get their names (above the subject and cc
lines, at the top of the group. But as soon as I do this, my original post
that was composed gets minimized. So I frankly don't see how I can get the
address of the second, third, fourth, etc. groups into my original so there
are multiple group recipients. If you feel that you'd rather spend your time
helping some other poster, I understand. But your instructions, and the
process, are definitely not intuitive, and you seem perplexed that I can't
understand your instructions. Now, having used pcs for 25 years, I assure
you I'm no novice. So, if you can, take a minute to try and understand my
difficulty in following what you were describing. In any event, thanks for
the assistance.
