Best Practice for low hours over many days?

I have glanced through a few books, with no resolution. What is the best
way to put say 5 hours of work over 5 days? Until now I have been adding
the Work column and lowering the hours from 5. It works but can get things
kind of goofy. And it does not save the work column view.

Goofy in what way? If you have a Fixed Duration, Non-Effort driven
task, with a duration of 5 days and and 5 hours of work, and then you
assign that task to a resource, they should be assigned to do 1 hour
per day of work. If things look goofy, check your task type and make
sure non-effort driven is selected.

As for the work column: if you are working on Project Server, using an
Enterprise view, you will need to edit the view to show the work
column.

Ok that worked fine. I just was not sure. Sometimes the duration and the
work column argue.
