Best practice for movies

Dave

I am looking for a best practices for movies that are included on a CD.

The user cannot get to the internet for codecs so what is packaged on the CD
is what he/she gets.

Is there a best practices for movies, i.e. Windows media Player, Flash,
QuickTime, etc? Again, if the correct codecs are not included they cannot
see the movie.

Thanks

Dave

Dave,
One of the best things you can do is to offer two formats for the
user. Most users have Windows Media Player, or Real Player. A lot also have
QuickTime. Microsoft and Real offer free utilities (or at least, Real used
to) so you won't have an issue creating those two formats at least. I am
unsure if QuickTime has a free converter, but it is also a very good format.
It may also be possible to include re-distributable copies of the players on
the CD as well. For example, Macromedia licenses the Flash player for free
for inclusion on CDs for software and publications. You may be able to do
the same with each of these different tools so that you can create a web
page with all the versions for the user to choose, and any of the players
they may need.

Hope this helps,
