How can I Individualize a distribution list? While using a distribution list,
I would like the name of the individual recepient to appear in the "To:"
field without listing the other members of the list. Is that possible and if
it is how do I do it? I'm using Outlook 2003 w/ latest updates.

use categories and mail merge instead.

You can do that with Easy Mail Merge for Outlook. It is an add-in for
Outlook. When you create an email merge with Easy Mail Merge from a
distribution list email, all your chosen recipients will receive the
email like you've send a single email to each one. It has also other
features that automatically personalize each email.

You can find it here:

Ms. Poremsky,

Please may I interrupt you once more and request your assistance.

I tried to do the Mail Merge to a template message I had previously created.
The resultant was an unreadable document in some kind of programing code.

I categorized the contacts, selected the desired contacts (selected the
first contact and Shift+down arrow to the last contact), proceeded to select
Tools, Mail Merge. Selected "All contacts in the current view", selected
"Existing document", browsed to my template, selected it, on to Merge
Options, where I selected "Form Letters" for Document Type: and "e-mail" for
Merge to:, clicked "OK" - The document produced for merge field insertion was
in code. Where did I go wrong???
- At this point I procceded to blind copy all my recepients and send the
the message to myself as the principal recepient.

I would like to know how to E-MAIL-merge with contacts. Please help me.

Thank you, Roberto

without seeing a screenshot, it's hard to say if it was normal code - i.e.,
what is needed for the fields or something that really wasn't supposed to be
there. My guess is the ABC button in the merge toolbar was toggled or you
were showing raw fields (Alt+F9).

the ABC button toggles it between showing <<field name>> or the actual
content from one record that will be merged
Alt+F9 toggles it between showing << First Name>> or the actual content
from one record that will be merged and {MERGEFIELD "First Name" \m}

In each case, the field is typically shaded gray if you click in it. (I
think you can set it to shade all fields all the time too.)

If it was not the brackets and mergefields, send a screenshot to the address
I post from and I'll take a look.
