Best practice to delete project server user-accounts?

Robert

We're using an enterprise resource-pool. In this resource-
pool there are several inactive (and no longer employed)
resources. These resources no longer need an user-account
in project server. What would be the best way to remove
the user-accounts for those users? If we remove them from
the enterprise resource-pool will that make them local to
their assigned projects? They have no more remaining work
for the projects/tasks they were assigned to, but the
projects/tasks are still running and we don't want to
loose their actuals. Any suggestions?

Robert:

Inactivate the resource, don't delete it until you're ready to archive the
project. Then, depending on which version you're using, we can advise you on
how to delete the resource.

Robert,

According the the help file you cannot remove enterprise resources from the
resource pool. As you probably already suspect, this is because it would
orphan records in the database where actual work had been recorded by that
resource. It goes on to recommend setting the resource to inactive, either
using the resource information window in project pro or the user management
page of project web access. This deactivates the account in the project
server but leaves the resource history in tact.

In addition to that you might want to remove all their group assignments and
category and global permissions. One other cautionary step I suppose you
could take is to change the account type to a project server account, then
you could have your active directory admins remove the account from their
stuff. They might appreciate being able to do this little bit of cleanup.

Earl's suggestion of changing the resource account type
to a Project Server account is very good especially if
your AD Admins remove accounts without tell you...saving
the entire resource pool with an inactivated AD account
can be very aggrevating...

Thanks guys for the the info.
I've removed the inactive resources from their groups in
PWA.
I've also removed their Windows User Account from the
resource table in Project Pro.
I didn't have to change their Authentication type to
Project Server authentication. The previous steps
probably triggered something that changed the
Authentication type automatically.

Removing the windows account is exactly how you change the authentication
type from Windows to PS.
