Best way to create a rule that refreshes a specific excel spreadsh

I would like to create an Outlook rule that refreshes a specific, open Excel
spreadsheet on the arrival of a SharePoint alert message.

What is the quickest and easiest way to do this?

Keep in mind that I am a novice programmer, at best, with no VB, VBA, or
C(any flavor) experience. Although, I feel confident that I can pick up on
one of these if needed -- at least enough code a solution to this little task.

That being said, for the sake of time, I would like to keep the learning
curve to a minimum.
