best way to make linked database - Stand alone

babs

presently I am using a database where I am linked into tables from Other
databases on the server - I need to be able to just update daily or
everyother day with the newest records added by the other people on the other
databases - and to NOT be Linked in on a daily basis - I have a laptop and
need to use it on the road and our remote connection is still a nightmare -
Bottom line - need My database to be standalone and just UPDATE- Append??
newest records

what do I need to do with the LInked tables???
Also I have ton of table presently in my database that other people Input -
do I keep same name on tables and just do an append - how can I append to All
table Daily quickly????

thanks,
barb

You could also look into one of the services like
http://accesstables.com/home
or
http://eqldata.com/

I haven't used the services above, but I talked with the guys at
Accesstables and it sounds like it would work.

or you could write a routine to export data to an excel file or some kind of
import/append/update process (but this will require some work). I have a
client in Haiti who uses this method and syncs changes into the master db
once a month, by emailing in their changes. Then the master db gets sent
out for everyone to use.
The user basically presses a button.

or use something like terminal services on the road to use the database
living on the server remotely.

sorry just got back to the issue

do i just Copy the database the way it is now - (snapshot of what data
presently have) - he would have to use a Copy of the other databases he links
to - and then does he replicate - daily or whenever??? and it updates
everything- or just records??

the other concern i have is we are currently using 2003 but am sure in the
Near future would be moving to 2007 soooo any other ideas??? to use database
remotely without being linked into server then UPDATE all on a regular
basis???

thanks,
barb
