Best Way to Track Hours for On Going Service

Hello,

I know Project is mostly used for tracking projects with a begining and an
end, managing resources etc. to meet deadlines.

But I want to use Project Server 2007 to track the time my employees spend
working with each client. The service they give the client is on-going and
doesn't have a known ending.

What would be the best methodology to go about this?

Thanks!

Probably best to re-ask this in the forum which focuses on Project SErver.

My reaction, though, is that you'd be better off using something other
than Project Server, e.g. paper timesheets, a specialised timesheet
application/system, something as simple as Excel or other spreadsheet,
or your own bespoke timesheeting application.

IMHO MS Project or any project scheduling software is not even remotely
close to being the right tool to use for this sort of problem. Projects are
by definition closed ended. Project scheduling software is designed to help
you plan a workflow that will get you from kickoff to the end in the most
expeditious manner. What you're talking about here is more akin to time and
billing software, something that's not even remotely similar to project
management. Take a look at "Timeslips" from Sage Software or the time and
billing modules in Quickbooks for examples of software that's purpose built
for this sort of application.
