"between" comparison operator

i have had a mental block -- what is the formula in Excel for "between
operator.

I have a number in A1, so in A2 I need to display a "Y" of this numbe
is greater than 84 or less than or equal to 10

You could use an AND statement:
=IF(AND(A1>84,A1<=108),"Yes","No")

Try

=IF(or(A1>84,A1<=108),"Y","")

Your OR should be an AND.
