binary patches

Hello,

I read the following:
binary patches can only be applied to files that are at
RTM or SR-1a level (for Office 2000), or RTM or SP-1 level
(for Office XP), in practice a baseline image is either
your original RTM image of Office, or an image with the
first service pack applied. Once you have established a
baseline for all of your Office installations, you can
start to deploy client updates to individual computers.
My question is: can binary patches also be applied to
files that are sp2-level (for office xp)?

Hi Irene,

It depends on how you installed/configured office.

If you're updating a client or standalone PC then
binary patches through http://officeupdate.com can
work. If you're deploying through an Admin point then
you can apply the full file update (replaces files)
version and recache (reinstall) the PC clients from
the Admin point.
