Birthday Alarm Reminders...

has got to be one of the most annoying features.

Is there anyway that I can set outlook up so that the default is NOT to add
reminders for birthdays and other activities that I have in my contact's
information?

The only way to avoid this that I know of is not to use the built-in
birthday and anniversary fields. You can create custom fields for this
information and they will not automatically create calendar events.
