Yes, I understand that, but I played around with it for 4 hours with no
success (and the help page didn't help out a lot either). Would you or
someone give me step by step please? I would highly appriciate it.

1 bit is black and white.
4 bit is 16 color.
8 bit is 256 color.

perhaps download and use Irfanview
