Bizarre behaviour in 2007 RTM

Aaron

When I create a spreadsheet object in Word, I can edit it no problem. When
I deselect the spreadsheet and then try to edit it again, I get the following
error:

"The program used to create this object is Excel. THat program is not
installed on your computer. To edit this object, yopu must install a program
that can open the object."

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Office, to no effect. I have also tried
uninstalling, reinstalling and deleting all office folders (in appdata and
other areas). Still no dice. I had 2007 Beta and 2007 Beta TR2 on my machine
nad have never encountered this problem until the RTM. Is there any way to
solve this issue or do I have to reinstall WIndows to make office work
properly?

Hi Aaron,

Did you uninstall the Beta before installing the RTM? If not, that may be
the cause of your problems.

Cheers

Yep, we done that one already. Still no luck.

After further testing, the problem is intermittent - about 90% of the time
the error message shows up, the rest of the time it works just fine. Very
odd indeed.

If it's intermittent, that doesn't bode well. Intermittent computer problems
generally can be solved only with a tall building, an open window, and ample
splatter room.

However... before going that route, give Diagnose a shot and see if that can
repair whatever's broken. Office > Word Options > Resources > Diagnose. Note
that Diagnose can repair problems that aren't fixed by uninstalling and
reinstalling.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem as Aaron, except it's systematic.

Have gone through the usual, inc. diagnose, etc... and all repported correct
- yet still having the problem!

Any progress on this? Really annoying that Beta2 was working better!

Cheers,
Stéph.
