Blackberry Email without Exchange Server ??

Is it possible to use a Blackberry as an individual, not in an eneterprise
environment and without a mail server such as MS Exchange? I have Outlook
2000 in Internet mail mode with an ISP. I have read about Desktop Redirector
but it seems to need a mail server. I have also gotten the impression from
other research that this can be done if the ISP has the right setup. If so,
precisely what does this require in terms of architecture from me and the
ISP? Any references to clear explanations of this issue would also be
appreciated. I would also like to understand what the cost structure would be
like. BTW I live in Europe.

TIA, Ken

Yes, you can use Blackberry as an individual, using the desktop redirector
(which does not use a Blackberry server - that's what it's for), or if your
provider (T-Mobile is one?) offers another option it means you don't have to
leave Outlook running. Contact a reseller in your area for more info on
pricing, etc -

Thanks a lot. Just to be clear, I am asking if it can be done without an
Exchange Server as well as without a Blackberry server (I understand that
redirector does this), but the white papers I have been able to find ALL
discuss using redirector with an Exchange server.

Thanks again,
ken

Yes, as I said, I believe so. Contact Blackberry pre-sales support or a
local reseller.
