Blacked out text in imported Visio diagram

[Using Word 2003 SP2 and Visio 2002 SP2 on Windows XP]
I've created a basic flowchart in Visio - no problem.
I've imported the file into Word using Insert -> Object -> Browse... - no
problem.
The diagram looks fine on the screen (it's all black and white, just boxes,
text and lines). I can re-size it - no problem.
If in Word I open the diagram, then go to Open in Visio, I can print it
perfectly - no problem.
BUT
When I print the document from Word, instead of text I get black rectangles
inside the boxes - what's the problem?

Hi Ted,

is the text really really small? Is Word (or Visio) "greeking" it for some
reason - ie: making a rectangular block where the text is, because it would
be too small to read? I know Visio has this feature, but I think it only
pertains to zoom-levels, not printing.

Just a wild guess...

Thanks, Chris, but I don't think that's the problem. Originally, the text in
Visio was 12 pt, and I had to reduce the size of the object in Word to fit
the available page width. I then encountered the print problem, so I changed
the font to Times New Roman 8pt and re-sized the drawing in Visio. Now in
Word the Size tab for the object shows:
Size and rotate
Height: 18.6 cm Width 13.4 cm
Rotation 0 (greyed out)
Scale
Height: 111% Width 112%
Lock aspect ratio: Yes
Relative to original picture size: Yes
Original picture size
Height: 16.69 cm Width: 12.37 cm

I've also had a look at the shape properties, for things like fill, but I
haven't (knowingly) changed anything, and I don't recall having this problem
before.

More ideas. please!

OK, Chris, you can stop thinking now! You were almost right: it was
"greeking" of a sort, but not by Visio or Word - it was happening in the
printer or its driver. We've been having printer problems, and in order to
save time/paper/ink I've just changed my printer set-up to print double-sided
with two pages per sheet. If I put it back to one page per sheet, it prints
beautifully.
Thanks for the idea.
