blank document

My new document is not blank it has a letter that I typed
on it. I can click on blank or new and it always has this
document.

If you've searched for Normal.dot and not found it, it's possible it doesn't
exist. In recent versions of Word, it is not created until you modify
something (add a toolbar button or the like). But if you're looking for it
because you're having problems with it, then most likely you just aren't
searching correctly. Do you have Windows set to display file extensions? If
not, you may need to be searching for "Normal" instead of "Normal.dot."

thank you very much for the link to my blank document.. i was going crazy for days tryin
to figure out how to get rid of the old document evry time i opened a new word doc. but now i have
many many short cuts of normal.dot files..can i just leave them there or do i have to get ri
of them? it took me a couple tries to figure out what i was doing..lo
it is wokring fine now just wondering about all the extra short cuts i have of the file no
