blank e-mails in Outlook 2003

I've just installed Outlook 2003 on a new laptop. This version:
1. Delivers some, not all, e-mails with full sender line, subject line and access to attachments; but the text area is blank. Forwarding the e-mail to another address does not restore the text. What in the world is causing this glitch?
2. Says that the version of MS Word that I'm running is not supported for text editing and saya that I should address this issue. What issue? Are these glitches related?
