Blank Presentation Opening When Launching Powerpoint Presentation

When launching a powerpoint presentation it opens a blank presentation. Upon
opening using the "Open With" option and selecting powerpoint as the
application, it will then open up the presentation.

I am using powerpoint 2000.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
