Blank Resource Summary in Resource Summary

Hi Everyone,

I have an odd issue where the "Resource Summary" view in "Resource Center"
does not show any resources. The message is:

There are no resources to display in this view.
You either do not have permissions to see any resources in this view or
there are currently no resources in the Project Server database. Contact your
server administrator.

I have created 25 staff in the Enterprise Resource Pool using MS Project
Pro. These staff can be allocated to projects and view task assignments etc.
In the "Resource Center" I can view resource assignments with no problems.

Everything else works perfectly except this!

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Brad

Is it possible that your Project Server administrator added a Filter to the
Resource Summary view and the Filter returns no resources? Ask your Project
Server administrator to study the setup of this view, and if necessary,
remove the Filter. Let us know if this helps.

Hi Dale,

Someone else installed the system and I am now administering it. A look at
the Admin --> Mange Views --> Resource Center --> Resources Summary shows no
filters.

Another odd thing is that in the Project Center when I drill into a project
and choose Resources Summary it works fine. I noticed in the forum that
someone else, in the forum, had a problem with a view corruption. Is this a
possibility and if so, how can this be fixed?

Thanks again,

Regards
Brad

Hi,

I took a further look and it does not appear to be a view corruption. I
created a new view, in Resource center, and the same thing happened.

I'm stumped.. Please help me ;-)

Are you seeing errors in the server's application Event Log? If so, post
these errors here and we will try to help.

Hi Dale,

Unfortunately, there are no errors in the application event log.

When the system was set up:
1. All staff were created using PWA and assigned into specific default
groups.
2. When I took over I noticed a number of ambiguous and duplicate names so I
merged and deleted staff to make the list match current staff
3. The ERP was then created manually (ie. no AD sync). This consisted of the
same staff that were already in PWA.

Could this process have caused this problem?

Thanks again
Brad

Step #1 was your first mistake. You need to create the resources initially
in the Enterprise Resource Pool, and then the system will automatically
create user accounts for each resource in PWA. From there, you can add each
resource to the correct security Groups in PWA. Whether this is the source
of the problem, I cannot really speculate. Sorry.

Thanks for helping me on this.

Is it possible to remove all PWA users without affecting the ERP (which can
then be resyched to create the PWA users.)?
If not what approach would be the least painful to perform what you suggest?

Without looking at your system, I'm hesitant to recommend a solution, but I
certainly would not recommend deleting everyone. Why don't you focus
instead on making sure that everyone who might work on a proejct is listed
in the Enterprise Resource Pool, knowing that they will have matching user
accounts in PWA. After you do so, then look at the user accounts in PWA
that do not have a corresponding resource in the pool, and then perhaps you
will want to either delete those "orphaned" accounts, or maybe even create
resources in the pool to match the user accounts. Just a thought. Hope
this helps.

Hi, Dale.

I have the similar problem that I can not see the resource in the resource
senter.
the steps for me to create the resources are:
1, Launch the MS project 2003 pro with the proper connection to the server
2, Open a blank project
3, Switch to the view of Resource
4, Add the names of the staff and more details(e-mail, etc)
5, Save this project and exit
6, Tool->Enterprise Option->Import Resource to Enterprise and selet the
project I just created.

After I finished the procedures, I could see all those resources became
active accounts. Even they became the active accounts, as the administrator I
could not see them in the web access Resource Center except only 1 resource
without name.

This problem was there was a resource appeared in the Resource Center but
without a name. The number for this resource is 15. I checked this number and
confirmed the name, then find this name in Admin and deleted this resource.
After that, this resource disappeared in Resource Center.
