Blank white rectangular space in the upper right hand of outlook

I am suddenly seeing a blank rectangular space maybe 2" across in the upper
right hand corner of some of my opened emails. It covers the closing and
minimizing buttons. Is there an adjustment that I need to make?

Does it move if you move the window?

Do you see it if you start Outlook in safe mode (Exit Outlook. Open Task
Manager and on the Processes tab ensure outlook.exe is not running, then
Start - Run - Outlook /safe)?

Thanks for your suggestion. Since I made the post I have edited the ribbon
above to below and then back again. When I did the initial edit the white
blank area went away and did not return when I returned. I am not sure if
this has relieved the problem permanently but so far it is OK.
