tools/preferences
and can be disabled..

look carefully for it.

How do I block internet access in office products through
the help drop down bar?

In Word 2003 do the following...
Tools, Options, General Tab, Service Options button, Online Content...
Uncheck "Sow content and links from Micrsooft Office Online".
(Or you can selectively uncheck the Search, Template Help or Featured Links
checkboxes.)

In Word 2007 do the following...
Office Menu, Word Options, Trust Center, 'Trust Center Settings...' button,
Privacy Options...
Uncheck "Search Microsoft Office Online for Help Content whne I'm connected
to the Internet" and/or "Update featured links from Microsoft Office Online".
