Blocked ports with Outlook2003

Hi all,

With Outlook2000 I had no problems connecting by RAS
through a Checkpoint Firewall, for using the Exchange 5.5
server (from home) at work.

Now I've installed Office2003 and everytime I want to log
in, another port (above 1024) seems to be blocked on the
Firewall.
I would like to know which ports Outlook2003 does use to
handle TCP/IP and UDP????

Greetings,
Jim

Port 135 (RPC Endpoint) is the initial connection. The Exchange server on
the other end will respond what two ports the directory and information
store reside on. FWIW, many ISPs are shutting down port 135 due to the
Blaster & Welchia/Nachi worms.

The Exchange server on the other end can be configured to lock the Directory
and Information store to specific ports. What can't be configured is the
UDP notification that Exchange sends out to let the client know new mail has
arrived.

Until now the following ports where blocked: 80/ 135/
139/ 1071/ 1074/ 1139/ 1243/ 1349/ 1510/ 2410/ 2928/
3407/ 3469/ 3865 and 4048.

What's next???

In every new session, another new port has to be freed
up. Is there a random kind of mechanism in selecting
these ports. Our Network Administrator is not happy to
open all those ports on the Firewall and actually advised
to fall back on Outlook2000.

Help?????
