Hi

Would frontpage be capable of setting up blogs for
different individuals?
Maybe for editting content before it goes into the blog ... or posting
to the blog via FTP ... but if you're looking to use FP to build a blog
engine? ... Unlikely, try this instead:

Steve,
While we're on the topic of blogs I maintain 2. FP2002 SP3 does not allow me to edit PHP, unless of course I shut down the extensions. Does FP2003 allow for the editing of PHP without doing that?

What type of blog feature does FP2003 have by the way? Is it dependent on asp, .net? Sounds like a great addition, i may have to break down and get it ;-)

FP SE (on/off) are not related to using PHP in FP
- make sure you have .php as files editable in FP (Tools Configure Editor)
- get the PHP addins for FP at http://www.microsoft.com/frontpage/downloads/addin/default.asp

The FP 2003 blog site template uses Web Parts and requires WSS (not the FP SE)

No. You need to purchase Windows 2003 Server, of which WSS is a part of.

Windows 2003 Server supports WSS but as far as I can see it doesn't come
with it.
It does however come with FP2002 Extensions.
You can download WSS here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/technologies/sharepoint/defau
lt.mspx

Jens,

I agree, but if you read the bottom of:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/technologies/default.mspx
you would think that it comes as part of Windows 2003 Server.

Hi Chris
I have tried using that blog i had problems setting it up
as result i couldnt login cause its not reading the
database

Neal

I'm in thr process of converting my existing mailing list to a blog format. I
am currently maintining my web site with FP 2003. I am also shopping for a
new web hosting service that can handle blogs. What I need to know is how to
manage the blog in FP 2003. I note from this post that I either need to
install the PHP add in from the FP add in web site and/or I need to use the
web log feature built into FP 2003, however I note that the latter only works
with sharepoint team services. Does this mean that I cannot manage a blog in
FP 2003 w/o sharepoint team services if I cannot find such a provider or not?

Thanks in Advance,

Neal Duitz

If you want to use a PHP based blog, then you need the PHP FP Add-in and a host that supports PHP
and the FP2002 extensions.

If you want to use the MS FP blog, then you need a Windows 2003 Server web host that have Windows
SharePoint Services installed and available for your use.

Hi - I came here to find information specifically about this topic.

I see the information below allows me to use WSS. How, thogh would I get a
webblog going with php? (assuming I get the plug in and I do have a php
host). I could not find this information in FP or on the menus.

You will not find any instructions in FP for using PHP. You would need to follow the instructions
for installing and configuring the blog that are provided by the author of the application. You only
need to plug-in if you want to attempt to modify the pages using FP.
