BMP print quality poor only after saving and reopening doc

I Insert a 600 PPI BMP picture into a Word 2007 doc and it prints fine. If I
save the doc, get out, then reopen it and print it out the images are
pixilated (actually they look screened). Easily duplicated.

Also,
If I insert the BMP picture and immediately print to a PDF using the Adobe
Acrobat 8 printer driver then the PDF "looks" good but if I print it it is
pixilated like above as if it had been saved.

Can anyone else duplicate this or have any suggestions? I suspect it is a
bug with how BMPs are saved. If so, how are bugs reported?
