Bold format fonts awry

julie

I have posted a help request previously (end of October)
but I am still having problems with fonts when "bolded"
converting into Times New Roman.
I am using Publisher 2002 on Windows 98.

Could anyone out there help?

Can you describe your issue better.

If the font you are choosing in Publisher is there, and it is a font that
complies with the standard, there is *NO* way Publisher will change fonts
itself.

If you are using a sub-standard font, you can have all sorts of issues.

What is the name of the font you are using?

If you double click on the font, what is the header information about who
made the font and the version?

.
I'm using a Text box when I'm having trouble with the
fonts - never thought to see if it happens in wordArt.

Have you installed the Publisher 2002 updates?
The issue you describe is unknown.

I would suggest the font you are using that is changing into TNR is caused
by a faulty font.
Personally I only use fonts supplied by Microsoft, Monotype, Agfa, Brigalow
& Holmes.

I would suggest you check the validity of any fonts with the Microsoft Fonts
Validator which can be downloaded for free.
You will be surprised or shocked to see how many fonts fail.

I do have more fonts installed than originally with
Publisher. but to give you an idea:
Arial and Bangle are OK.
These ones are a few of the problem fonts:
Bernhard Fashion BT True Type v1.57 Bitstream Inc
Bradley Hand True Type v1.05 International typeface Corp
Jokerman True Type v1.05 Esselte Corp
Matisse True Type v1.00 (no maker listed)
Kristen true Type v1.05 international Typeface Corp

I don't really consider these sub-standard fonts. and yes
this particular Microsoft program is converting these to
Times roman.

I hope this info helps you come up with something.

Julie those fonts either do not conform to the standard, or possibly but it
is rare, you have a corrupt Fonts folder.

To repair the Font folder, download TweakUI for your version of Windows from
the MS website, and try repairing the font folder with the included tool.
You cannot damage anything if the font folder is not corrupt and you use the
repair tool in TweakUI.
