bold formatting disappeared, color changes to black & won't change back, plus

I did a timeline which now reaches approx. 30 pages. According to
where the event occurred I've chosen different colors (green=Ireland;
blue=US, etc.). The years were in bold. Now the bold has disappeared.
When I try to change them back to bold they become black rather than
the chosen color. And they won't change back to the appropriate color
from black even if I remove the bold formatting. Also when I insert
new material it is underlined, however, the underline indicator is not
highlighted. The underlining can't be removed or the color changed.
And...there were some extra lines between paragraphs and these can't
be removed. So, as you can see, I've got lots of problems.

Hi,

This behavior you describe of having constant underline, can't change
the color, can't change the line spacing: to me it sounds exactly like
you have "Track Changes" turned on, and the program is treating you as
an editor of the document who wants her changes to be recorded. You
didn't mention it, but I'd guess that when you delete words they
remain in the document with a "srtikethrough." Just a hunch.

So you want Tools Menu > Track Changes... and turn off the
highlighting of changes.

Hope that helps.
