Book Suggestions Sought

J

John Baker

I'm an experienced developer with a lot of MS Access and VBA under my belt.

I need to come up to speed with Excel very quickly, and am seeking book
suggestions which include VBA programming. Basically, I want to try and
avoid books that are going to spend several chapters telling me what a
cell is and how to do a summation of a column, but gets to the meat of
things quickly but also explains things thoroughly enough for someone
with no prior spreadsheet experience.

Also, unlike ACCESS, EXCEL has a record macro facility that flattens the
learning curve. If you can achieve (whatever) using the mouse, Excel will
generate the code for (whatever) for you to study/adapt. Tools + Macro +
Record New Macro followed by Tools + Macro + Stop Recording. ALT + F11 to
toggle the code & spreadsheet view.

This news group is an excellent source of knowledge too.
