Booklet Printing

D

Derek Wittman

Good afternoon. I'm working on a technical/operational
document that I would like formatted particularly. What I
would like to see is a booklet for my employees that has 4
pages per sheet (duplex, landscape, 2 pages per side),
such that a page is 5.5 x 8" in size.

I have it laid out in Word without booklet printing.
However, if I add to the document for a new rev. I will
need to do a whole bunch of repaginating/ordering. So, I
would like to get back to pages in order with the booklet
printing. What does my page size in Page Setup need to
be? Do I still need Landscape alignment? Do I still need
Print Both Sides and Booklet (left binding)? Please email
me the response as I am not a regular to the newsgroups.

Thank you!
Derek

We don't do email. From the sound of it, you must have Word 2002. Although
you can use the "Book fold" feature (in which case if your document is
portrait, when you select "Book fold" it will become landscape
automatically), there are some glitches in this method, and I gather that it
doesn't duplex very reliably. You might want to see
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Formatting/BookletPrinting.htm for some
alternative methods.

Ah! I see. Fortunately, I'm on an NT (less
security/permissions) workstation with Word 2000. My
company hasn't upgraded yet. I've yet to check out the
enhanced features of 2002.

Thank you, Suzanne

If you're using the macro to print booklets from Word 2000, then you're
taking advantage of the "2 pages per sheet" option in the Print dialog. If
you set up a booklet using Word 2002's "Book fold" feature or the method I
outline for Word 97, you're dealing in actual finished pages (100% size).
