borderless printing

hey there! boy do i want to throw in the towel on this project, but i've
worked so hard on it that i want it to print as nice as it looks on screen.
i'm working with pub. 2003 and a brand new hp photosmart D7360. i am certain
that this printer is capable of printing borderless photos & pages. it seems
that i have tried every possible combination of page layout attempts -- and
still no luck. but here's the kicker. i have an epson printer that is okay,
but nothing to write home about -- i am able to print it borderless w/ no
problem. but because this project is of particular importance, i need an
image & resolution that is better than okay. i also have a brother at work.
I can print things from photoshop on the brother w/o borders -- but not this
pub. document. i could try and tolerate borders, but these are invasive,
uneven and are cropping my images. i read the other folks' similar problems
and attempted to troubleshoot. no luck. any help out there? thanks!

I have a PhotoSmart printer, I cannot get it to print borderless from Publisher
2003. My workaround is to right-click the publication, click save as picture (I
select the highest resolution). I then print the publication from the HP
software. You could try adjusting the overspray in the printer properties.

I'm not familiar with the printer & perhaps you're already familiar with
this info, but if not perhaps it will help:

1.
Load letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the Main tray.
2.
Touch Settings.
3.
Touch Tools, then scroll and find Align printer.
4.
Touch Align printer.
5.
Touch OK. The printer aligns the print head, prints an alignment page,
and calibrates the printer. Recycle or discard the alignment page.
6.
Try printing again.

Also:

The printer does not print borderless photos when I print from the control
panel
Solution Make sure the correct layout is selected when setting up the print
job.
When selecting photo and papaer size, the image rectangle must be solidly
filled
with orange to indicate a borderless print.

As Mary has said, a workaround is to save the entire page as a picture and
then print the picture using the HP software, but even then you will still
have problems with things failing to align properly on the page because of
the unusual way that HP achieves borderless.

An alternative is to print your document in the normal way from Publisher,
but do *not* tick the borderless printing option on the Paper/Quality tab in
printer options (remove that tick if there is one there). Instead, tick the
"minimize margins" box which you should find on the "Effects" tab. (I'm
using a HP 2575 printer so the tabs may be slightly different on your own
machine). The "minimize margins" setting does not give you true borderless
printing, but it does reduce the worst of those margins to a much smaller
value and it does print all elements of your page in the correct positions
(to within a millimeter, anyway).

Touch Align printer.
Touch OK. The printer aligns the print head, prints an
alignment page, and calibrates the printer. Recycle or
discard the alignment page.

Perhaps I'm being a bit dim here, but how will recycling or discarding the
alignment page help to solve the problem?

Seriously though, the printer alignment you mention is nothing to do with
the "unprintable margins" of the printer at various settings. The method to
which you refer simply adjusts the firmware to take into account any slight
misalignment between the colour cartridge and the black cartridge. It has
nothing at all to do with the OP's problem.
