Bottom Border Missing

When I print and print preview my bottom border is missing. What do I need
to do?

I pulled up this article before I posted. I am doing something wrong. I
still don't have a bottom border.

Is this a table border or a page border? If the latter, are you setting it
"From text" instead of "From edge of page"?

G

It is set "from edge". Can you give me step by step instructions for office
2007 so I can follow each step and hopefully see what is going wrong?

If you can get to the setting where you have it set "From edge," then you
can change it to "From text" the same way as in any other version.

G

gertandruby

Already did that.

Could you please give me step by step intructions, from the beginning, for
Office 2007, on how to include the bottom border on my page?

Set the bottom margin to a reasonable amount and set the page border "From
text." If you are able to set margins and format the page border, you
already know how to do everything that is required. The article tells how to
determine the nonprintable area if that's the question.

This is a page border and is set to "from edge".

Change the setting from "From edge" to "From text." As the article explains,
the maximum distance of 31 points (less than half an inch) is not enough to
overcome the minimum unprintable area on some printers.

G

Some of the text is then outside the border.

If we are talking about a page border, then ordinary document text cannot be
outside it. If you're talking about the header and footer, then you need to
check the boxes for "Surround header" and "Surround footer" and make sure
that the header and footer margins are within the printable area. If the
text is in a text box, then you need to move the text box.

Having followed your instructions, checking the printer, settings for
margins, etc...with no positive results, I decided it was time to call
Microsoft. The tech
believes there is a driver problem with my printer. The printer prints fine
until I add a border. Anyway, thanks for your help. I'll figure it out
sooner or later...

Okay, I have looked at your document, and the issue is that the margins are
not set sensibly. You have 1" top, bottom, and left margins and a 1.5" right
margin. If you want the text centered on the page, you need to set left and
right margins to the same amount. The reason your text is extending outside
the page border when you set it "from text" is that you have applied
negative left and right indents to the text instead of changing the page
margins. Many of the paragraphs have a -0.5" left indent and a -1" right
indent. You can achieve the same effect by setting the left and right
margins to 0.5".

You'll still need to figure out how close to the edge your printer will
print. With 0.5" margins, you will surely not be able to accommodate a page
border 31 points from the text, so you may need to rethink the layout of
your flyer--reduce the text size, move some of the text, etc.

I would be inclined to start with 1" margins all the way around and no
negative indents and see where you can go from there. In the Page Border
Options, set the page border to "Text", increase the distance to 31 points
all the way around, and clear the check boxes for Surround Footer and
Surround Header.
